At The End Of The Road…

image

Tired old husk,
A solemn soft dusk,
The closing of a chapter
At the end of a laughter.

The ceasing of the tide,
The last joy ride.
A life lived enough
X times easy, x times tough.

Some actions good and bad,
Of moments dark and sad.
One last fallacy
A yearning for normalcy.

A lingering trace of presence,
An affirmation of existence,
The comfort of a loving hug,
On the heartstrings, an insistent tug.

A leaf pressed between the pages,
A memory mellowed with ages,
A smile, a step, a hushed silence,
A last glance lit up with radiance.

Friends…

Stalwart Friends
One and all
Stand by me
You don’t let me fall.

Through thick and thin
My lifeline you are
Deeper than the skin
It’s a timeless bond.

Good times and bad
Your constant presence
Whenever I’m sad
You make me laugh.

You let me be
And my idiosyncrasies
Doesn’t ever matter
If you agree or tease.

Dear Friend,
The very best thing is
The way you get me
You are some kind of whiz.

I know in recent times
I have tried your limits
‘Tis my chemical imbalance
My brain’s on a fritz.

Have crazy days
And crazy nights
Extreme mood swings
Tears and fights.

I drown at times
Among the flotsam and jetsam
The deeds of my life
Like the bursting of a dam.

There are soft times too
For a moment or two
When my vision’s clear
I kneel in a pew.

A black hole simile
Getting sucked in it
Need a greater gravity force
To bring me out of it.

Just bear with me
Walk with me awhile
I hope to be back
With laughter and smile.

Just be with me
At the center or periphery
‘Tis my apology
Take a moment to tarry.

The Pause Button…

Take a pause
From the busy life!

A life which has no time
To stop and wonder,
About the mysterious world around us,
A life which can no longer ponder,
On the velvet of the starry night sky.

Dreams were meant to be adventures,
In many parallel worlds of existence,
Alas! We grew up into cold-hearted adults,
We made our dreams our bane of existence.

Gave up our curiosity and innocence,
We became the demons of realism,
It’s good to be practical,
But what cost is the loss of our clean hands?

We who were so passionate, so driven,
Could scale the highest mountain for sheer fun!
Now we are bowed down by,
Lifeless bodies of our own ambition.

So take a pause,
From the busy life.
Enjoy the smile of a newborn,
Feel the touch of a loved one,
The serenity of the early dawn.
The gratitude of the helpless one,
The cool fingers of winter wind,
The playfulness of the grassy green,
Take a pause to just breathe in,
An imperfect life full of Him!

Lost At Sea…

images (36)

I am so lost,
Floundering in this sea,
Made of humans,
No landmark I see!

Strewn it is with,
Faces familiar and strange,
Choked it is with
Heartbreak, happiness
Sweet love, broken dreams!

Paradoxical emotions,
Create the chaos,
Churn and burn.
Underneath the surface,
A deadly maze!

The depths I can’t gauge,
Just know that I’m drowning,
Deep and deep.
Can’t feel the floor,
Beneath my feet.

My arms flail around,
I can’t stay aloft!
I fight against the currents,
A battle I have lost!
The final end is near…

The water closes,
Above my head.
Darkness surrounds me,
In peaceful embrace.
Gently, softly, I let go all
A beatific smile on my face…
